What happens during a Botox Treatment?

At Faces Medical Spa we will carefully assess how each muscle contracts, and recommend the appropriate dosage of units for each concern being treated. A small amount of injection of NeuroToxins like; "Botox, Zeomin, or Dysport" into the muscles below the skin to smooth fine lines and creases.
How Long Does a Botox Treatment Take?

When Should You Start With Botox Treatment?

Many women and men in their twenties are choosing to start using Botox treatment. Botox treatment is part of a skincare protocol to keep wrinkles away before they develop. Our nurse at Faces Medical Spa can suggest preventative doses of Botox to delay premature aging signs.
What are Botox Contradictions?
​
Our professional nurse at Mississauga Skin Clinic will ensure that each client is a good candidate for botox treatment during our complementary consultation. Botox contradictions are;

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

History of hypersensitivity or allergy to botulinum toxins.

History of neuromuscular diseases such as multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis.

Active infection or inflammation at the injection site.
What are Post Botox Treatment instructions?
Following your Botox treatment, you are recommended to;

Remain upright for 4 hours. (You can look down, but don’t bend forward).

Do not rub, touch, wash, or massage the treated area for 24 hours.
-
Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 6 hours. It is Avoid vigorous exercise 24 hrs after your neuromodulator treatment.
What are possible side effects post Botox Treatment?
​
Immediately following treatment; Injection site reactions like bleeding, bruising, small bumps at the injection site, swelling, and tenderness may occur. These reactions usually resolve after a few days. Other rare but possible side effects; headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, asymmetry of muscle movement, and nausea.
What to Avoid Before Botox Treatment?
​
It is recommended to stop your blood thinners (including baby aspirin) for about a week before injections. In addition to blood thinners, supplements including Omega-3, Vitamin E, green tea, and alcoholic beverages seem to increase the risk of bruising so it is recommended you discontinue these for about a week before treatment.
How Long Does Botox Last?
​
The average woman or man who chooses a Botox treatment at Faces Medical Spa should notice that the Botox effect kicks in around day 3 to 5 days but the full results can be seen in 2 weeks after the treatment. Botox results may last up to 12-16 weeks on average. At Faces Medical Spa we will guide you on when you should schedule your next visit.
